SUMMARY:Morten Alfred & Vingården at Folk Club Zürich (Switzerland)
DESCRIPTION:New Music from Denmark \n“The tactful applause of the large audience triggered an encore: “Slottet” (The Castle)\, which\nbegan by the violin playing a beautiful ballad\, which the saxophone and guitar slipped into. A very\nsingable melody\, just to hum along to – And the audience really did so indeed. A lovely finish to an\nenjoyable concert.” – Helsingør Dagblad (Elsingnore News)\, Aug. 20th 2023 \nIn Morten Alfred & Vingården (Morten Alfred & The Vineyard) they write and compose their own\nmaterial. Like fine wine\, the compositions range from young and sparkling fresh to older and more\nmature\, and the musicians has carefully refined and processed them to share with concert\naudiences and dancers alike. \nThe music may be new\, but the melodies\, the lyrics and the rhythms are deeply inspired by the\nroots and traditions of the music from the Nordic countries. \nThe working tools at the Vineyard are instruments like soprano and baritone saxophone\, violin\,\nguitars\, and vocals\, with the music flavored by the musicians’ backgrounds in Baroque Music\,\nChurch Music\, Traditional Scandinavian Dance Music\, and much more. \nThe musical world of The Vineyard takes its starting point partly in a collection of tunes composed\nby guitarist Morten Alfred Høirup and published in his book\, Ingela’s Waltz – 25 New Danish Folk\nMelodies\, released in 2022\, and partly in music these awarded musicians do compose and arrange\ntogether. \nDuring 2024 and 2025 the band will perform in churches\, folk clubs and festivals all over Denmark and Switzerland\, amongst others.
